Toilet Water Bottles: As is the case for the California Perfume Company's perfume bottles—though admittedly, to a much lesser extent—the toilet water bottles often prove quite difficult when trying to nail down their specific production dates. Interestingly, from at least 1896 through 1915, toilet waters (scented bath preparations) were put up in two, four, eight (half-pint), and sixteen (pint) ounce bottles AND their prices (shown to the immediate right) remained consistent throughout this twenty year period. Lait Virginal, a somewhat higher-end bath preparation, was put up in two, four, eight (half-pint), and sixteen (pint) ounce bottles prior to 1897, after which the pint-sized bottle was discontinued. As with its cousin toilet waters, the prices of the Lait Virginal remained consistent from 1896 through 1915 as well. Again, like the perfume bottle section, the fragrance, the approximate date, and the bottle size will be the primary information provided for each toilet water bottle depicted in this section.
