NOTE: The majority of the Goetting & Company products below lack precise dates. No catalogs, order forms, or representative sales material have been discovered to help determine dates of any of the Goetting products. One interesting "dating aide" was discovered through the analysis and comparison of the Goetting bottles, advertisements, and trade cards found thus far. D. H. McConnell's purchase of A. H. Goetting's perfume company in 1896 resulted in a "slight" name change on the Goetting labels as McConnell continued to manufacture and sell the products over the next 20+ years. When A. H. Goetting owned the company (1875-1896), the labels bore the trade name, "A. Goetting & Co., NY", whereas after McConnell's purchase of the company, all later products were subsequently labeled with "Goetting & Co., NY"...dropping the "A".
ADDITIONAL NOTE: Another way to further define the manufacturing date of SOME, not all, Goetting items after the "McConnell purchase" (1896 onward) is to compare the Goetting item to it's California Perfume Company cousin. Interesting??? Compare the similarities in this recently discovered Goetting perfume and an illustration of the California Perfume Company's 1905 L'Odeur de Violet perfume...

Note: the key indicator used to define the dates on the perfumes above rests in the use of the "Goetting" girl label—apparently many of the items sold by Adolph Goetting were adorned with the side portrait of woman's head. the Violet perfume does not carry the classic "Goetting Girl" label design and is put up in a bottle similar to that used by the California Perfume Company during the early 1900's. This is believed to be a Goetting perfume that was manufactured and sold under the watchful eye of David H. McConnell.
