Natoma Products are the most sought after, and probably amongst the most valuable California Perfume Company collectibles, in this hobby! The Indian Maiden portrait—the signature of the Natoma line—draws interest well beyond the CPC and Avon collector. This fact serves to boost the value of these treasures if and when they make it sale.

Natoma Portrait
~1911
Note: Above Picture from the August 1911 CPC Outlook

The Natoma fragrance line was launched in late-1911/early 1912 with the introduction of the Natoma Talcum. The Natoma Rose perfume followed in 1914. An interesting dilemma exists: dating of these products. For the most part, the talcum tins and rolling massage cream jars can be dated with reasonable accuracy, however, that is not true with the perfume bottles, especially with the Gift Box N bottles. For years, the CPC catalogs used the same illustrations for the perfume bottle and for the Gift Box N bottle, though many variants have been found and are pictured herein. Please be aware that the dating in this section is suspect. The actual dates may be off by as much as five years.

Natoma Rose Perfume
~1914-1918
(Two Ounce Bottle Shown)
Note: This may be a bit of an anomaly. The bottle itself would probably date before 1918 while this style box was used around 1923-1925. This may not be a correct match. Also, from the 1916 to the 1918 catalogs, there was an EXTREME price jump for Natoma perfume products.

Note: The A-size bottle was a 1916-1917 addition to the CPC line up. The label style seen to the right represents to majority of A-sized bottles found to date-that bottle started use in 1918. The above picture is VERY RARE variant of the Natoma Rose bottles. Another interesting note is the label is that normally found on the Gift Box "N" bottle.

Gift Box "N" Bottles:
The Gift Box "N" (for Natoma) was first offered in 1915—introduced as the "Special"; a half ounce bottle. Conversely, according to the January, 1920 CPC Outlook, the Gift Box "N" bottles were exhausted during the Christmas holiday season of 1919 and some of the orders were replaced with A-sized bottles.
