WHAT THIS RADIO PROGRAM MEANS TO YOU

A MESSAGE TO AVON REPRESENTATIVES FROM

John A. Ewald, General Manager

Mr. John A. Ewald - General Manager of the California Perfume Company - 1935
John A. Ewald

Have you ever dreamed of some magical force that would break down the barriers of sales resistance—that would open doors, insure a friendly greeting, a pleasant interview and finally a nice big order?

Well that dream can and will come true for you. All you need do is to cooperate with us in a plan which will prove both enjoyable and profitable. Let me tell you the story.

Last July we started a test of radio advertising in just one stare. We wanted to see whether the Avon Representatives of that trace would be helped by it before extended the advertising. The test has been completed. The results are amazing. Thousands upon thousands of new customers—larger orders—more profits for representatives to tell the story. And so we have decided to go ahead on a big scale.
This novel radio program called “Friends” will start the week of March 4th [1935]. No, I’ll not tell you about it in detail but I’m sure you’ll like Julie Wintz’s music, George Beuhler’s voice and those two lovable characters “Lucille and Maggie.” You'll enjoy their quaint, intimate manner of expressing themselves. You'll appreciate the sincere way in which they tell listeners about Avon and Perfection products and about you.

We want every woman in your district to listen to this program. And that's where you come in. IN A SEPARATE ENVELOPE WE ARE MAILING YOU ONE HUNDRED ANNOUNCEMENTS. Just as soon as you receive them start out and deliver these announcements to one hundred homes in your section.

While delivering the announcements mention the date and the time of day the station nearest you will feature this program. Explain also that this program will continue for at least 15 weeks. Note that on the back of the announcement the specials during the Golden Wedding Anniversary are listed.

Get as many more than one hundred customers as possible to listen to this program regularly. This preliminary work will pay you greatly increased dividends in sales and earnings. LATER ON THERE WILL BE THE MOST AMAZING OFFER EVER MADE OVER THE AIR AND ONE THAT WILL MEAN MUCH MORE MONEY TO YOU.

This is how your dream can come true. Whether it will or not depends on how well you make the most of this powerful selling aid…RADIO.
